The Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer (WISE) is a proposed NASA MIDEX mission. One of the goals of the mission is to detect the nearest stars to the Earth. These stars, called brown dwarfs, are so dim that we cannot even see them in our own cosmic backyard.

The WISE Brown Dwarf simulation is a hypothetical look at what the solar neighborhood may look like once WISE completes its mission. We focus on a 25-light-year bubble around the Sun and display the number of currently known stars (195 stars) against the Brown Dwarfs that WISE will discover (around 260).
