Program Requirements
Partiview, itself, is not terribly demanding on computational resources. The size and display characteristics of the data sets are what typically determine the resources required. If in doubt, load the Test Data first to be sure your computer can run Partiview.
Partiview requires the following to run on your computer:
- Runs on Windows 98 and above, Mac OSX, Linux, and IRIX. (We have not tested Partiview extensively and have received little feedback concerning problems.)
- A 3-D accelerated graphics card (particularly for Linux). Newer Windows desktops seem to ship with more powerful graphics cards, although Windows laptops often lag behind. Of course, SGI's IRIX typically runs just fine provided there's enough power under the hood.
- Enough resources to load the data into memory (without using virtual memory).
