Galileo Galilei (1564-1642)

Galileo's portrait was painted in 1638 from life by J. Sustermans, artist for the Florentine court. The portrait was presented to the Hayden Planetarium by Mr. Samuel D. Steinberg on the 400th anniversary of the birth of Galileo.
