On October 2nd, 2005, we celebrated the 70th anniversary of the opening of the original Hayden Planetarium. Archival images were shown on the AstroBulletin and plasma screens around the hall, while Hayden Planetarium Director, Neil deGrasse Tyson, discussed the history of the planetarium (and astrophysical advances) since 1935. Following Dr. Tyson's talk, a special birthday cake was shared.
